Race Medic
An introductory course for crew and race officials.
Aim: To provide essential life saving skills
Duration: 6 Hours.
Qualification: Race Medic Certificate.
Modules:
- Initial on-water trauma management
- Contacting medical aid
Coastal Medic
An intermediate course for coastal boaties within 24 hours of assistance.
Aim: To detail the management of trauma up to 24 hours with little outside assistance and medical equipment
Duration: 16 Hours.
Qualification: Coastal Medic Certificate (Recognised by Maritime New Zealand for commercial qualifications).
Modules:
- Airway, Breathing and Circulation
- Injury identification
- Stabilisation/Treatment
- Evacuation
- Documentation
Offshore Medic
An advanced course for offshore skippers and crew.
Aim: To detail the management of medical/trauma emergencies onboard for up to five days without medical assistance
Duration: 16 Hours.
Qualification: Offshore Medic Certificate.
Prerequisites: Coastal Medic Certificate (less than four months old).
Modules:
1. Trauma Management
- Advanced airway management
- Oxygen administration
- Advanced chest injury management
- Fluid resuscitation
2. Medical Management
- Medical assessment
- Symptomatic treatment
- Administration of medicines
- Advanced wound closure
